California wildfire drives thousands of people out of their homes | Abroad

The fire in Orange County spread surprisingly fast on Thursday due to the strong winds, forcing some 25,000 residents to seek safer places as a precaution, the fire department reported. Thursday night local time, the fire was only 10 percent under control.

The current California wildfire season is the most devastating ever in terms of area. Since the beginning of the year, more than 16,100 square kilometers of land has been destroyed.

Thousands of homes went up in flames and dozens of people died. If drought and strong winds continue, the situation is expected to worsen further in December.
