In five Kempen cafes of Melis Events in Dessel, customers receive a card to leave their details to enable contact tracing. The fact that they must also explicitly tick that they do not want to receive promotions from the business has gone wrong with several customers. “The tickets were already printed before the registration requirement came into effect,” defends café owner Dirk Melis. “Hand on heart: we don’t use the information.”
