For 7 years, the Sugar Consortium of industrial enterprises (FIELD) reported that he replaced the use of chemical fertilizers with organic fertilizer in more than three thousand hectares of sugar cane every year.

The company’s statement indicates that this initiative by circular economy obtained the inclusion of the company in the third Catalog of Promising Practices promoted by the National Council for Private Enterprises (Conep) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Through the project “Alternatives for the organic fertilization of sugar cane”, FIELD showed how he replaced Chemical fertilizers for a compost that uses residues from its factory and other small farms in its area of ​​influence.

“By this way FIELD annually processes and reuses 68,500 tons of waste from sugar agro-industrial process and other local industries, replacing 22,500 quintals of synthetic chemical fertilizers with organic sources,” said Benigno Trueba, executive vice president of the company.
