Cabinet wants to relax more quickly: society largely open as of February 25

The cabinet will almost certainly announce at the corona press conference tomorrow that most measures will be lifted as of 25 February, i.e. next Friday. Only a number of basic advice, such as no shaking hands, hygiene, ventilation and testing in case of complaints, will be maintained. That is what sources in The Hague say.

Mouth caps no longer have to be worn and there is no longer a need to keep one and a half meters away. The advice to work from home as much as possible is cancelled.

In the cultural sector and the catering industry, the normal situation will return earlier than expected. Now they have to close at 10 pm. From next Friday, February 18, that will go to 1 a.m. A week later, the regular general closing times will be in effect again.

Admission ticket in the refrigerator

The much criticized corona admission ticket (ctb) disappears in the refrigerator and will only be taken out of storage if a situation arises in which it really has added value. However, it is possible that the CTB is still necessary to travel abroad, because other countries make this a condition.

From 25 February, 1-G will apply to festivals and events where many people are present, i.e. they are accessible with a negative test.

Last week It has already become clear that the cabinet wants to move in this direction, because the pandemic no longer causes major problems in healthcare. Tonight there will be another advice from the Outbreak Management Team (OMT). Tomorrow the final decision will be made in the cabinet. This mainly concerns the practical design of the relaxation, the sources say.

The press conference is tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. For the first time, Prime Minister Rutte will not be present. The announcements are made by Minister Kuipers of Public Health.
