Businessman Diego Mejía Castro passed away

The businessman and union leader of Valle del Cauca Diego Mejía Castro died in Cali, who spent his entire career in the MAC organization, where he managed to expand the international market of the company, achieving international quality recognition and producing batteries with 100% ecological systems.

Currently he stood out as a member of the Board of Directors of Ema Holdings, an organization oriented to the national agribusiness.

Mejía Castro, Business Administrator from the Icesi University with a specialization in Senior Management and International Business Management, was the son of Ernesto Mejía Amaya, founder of the company Baterías Mac, a company where he rose from mechanical assistant to Commercial Vice President and contributed to his restructuring and internationalization.

The MAC company was several times awarded as the best original equipment supplier of the GM Colmotores and Renault Sofasa assemblers, in addition to placing it for several years, as the largest exporter of auto parts in the country.

Diego Mejía belonged to the Board of Directors of the Colombian Association of Auto Parts Manufacturers (ACOLFA) for more than ten years and was the great promoter and President of the Board of Directors of the Center for Technological Development of the Colombian Automotive Industry.

In addition, he directed the University-Company-State Committee of Valle del Cauca from 2014 to date and led from the Creatti Labs company the first electric bus for the operation of the Integrated Mass Transportation System of the West, which does not need liquid fuel and it does not produce noise so it is friendly with the environment.

Mejía also promoted notable science and technology and innovation projects for the development of the region. He also chaired the Board of Directors of the National Productivity Center, was a member of the Administrative Region of Pacific Planning (RAP Pacífico) and of the Departmental Committee of Science, Technology and Innovation of Valle del Cauca (CODECTI).
