(AOF) – The business climate in France deteriorated again a little in July, said INSEE. The indicator that summarizes it, calculated from the responses of business leaders in the main market sectors, lost one point. At 103, it remains above its long-term average (100). “This slight deterioration in the business climate in July is mainly due to the economic deterioration in services and industry,” commented the national statistics institute.
In services, the business climate is penalized by the decline in the balance of opinion on the general outlook for the sector. In industry, the business climate is darkening, penalized by the decline in sales on past production and order books.
The employment climate recovered somewhat in July 2022, after three consecutive months of deterioration. The synthetic indicator gained two points and reached 109, well above its long-term average (100). “This rebound is mainly due to the good performance of the balances of opinion relating to recent and future trends in the workforce in services (excluding temporary work agencies), despite a decline in these same balances in manufacturing industry and the retail trade”, commented INSEE.
