Bundesliga: LASK dominates against Klagenfurt

Keito Nakamura (14th), Thomas Goiginger (28th) and the outstanding new signing Marin Ljubicic (49th) ensured with their goals a perfect start in the “Mission Master Group” of the league eighth of the previous season. However, Peter Michorl saw the red card in the closing stages (80′) after stepping on Sinan Karweina’s Achilles’ heel completely unnecessarily. At the end, Austria captain Markus Pink (89th) scored the consolation goal.

Kühbauer put three new players in his starting line-up, former St. Pauli captain Philipp Ziereis, ex-Rapid full-back Filip Stojkovic and Croatian U21 team player Ljubicic in attack were allowed to show their skills. Veteran Robert Zulj was not in the squad after his return from the Emirates. At the Klagenfurt team, who surprisingly finished sixth in the previous season, coach Peter Pacult had to cope with several departures of top performers such as Patrick Greil, Alex Timossi Andersson and Turgay Gemicibasi.

LASK wins the start

LASK celebrates a victory in the Bundesliga. He won against Austria Klagenfurt 3-1.

Ljubicic convinces again

In the first of ten home games in Pasching, before LASK will move to the new stadium on the Gugl next year, Linz set the tone in the early stages. The first good opportunity was missed by the extremely active Ljubicic, the shot from the loan player from Hajduk Split from the edge of the penalty area went just over the goal (8th). Ljubicic convinced as in the 9: 1 in the ÖFB Cup at third division Schwaz, where he scored three times.

While the Kühbauer-Elf dominated the game, showed pleasing combinations and created many chances, the Klagenfurt team didn’t score a single goal in the first 45 minutes. LASK deservedly took the lead after almost a quarter of an hour after Nakamura, who was also strong, pushed the ball over the line after a Ljubicic solo. Shortly thereafter, the guest defense was again indisposed, Goiginger hit the far corner with a low shot unstoppable for Klagenfurt goalkeeper Philipp Menzel.

Guests only wake up after 0:3

Shortly after the change of sides, LASK followed suit: Nakamura had a lot of space on the left wing, the sharp cross from the 21-year-old Japanese brought Ljubicic into the goal with a slide to make it 3-0. Only then did the Pacult team get into the game better and kept up well with the Linz team.

Newcomer Jonas Arweiler initially had the best chance of scoring a goal, shooting just over it from 14 yards (74′). In the final phase, Klagenfurt was the better team, veteran Pink stayed cool after a through pass from Florian Rieder in front of LASK goalie Alexander Schlager and scored the final score.

votes on the game

Dietmar Kuhbauer (LASK trainer): “We played a very, very good game for 60 minutes. After the 3:0 we could have played the ball even better and added the fourth goal, we missed that. But basically it was a deserved victory – the three points at the start are very important because everyone demanded them. The start of the season was successful.”

Peter Pacult (Austria-Klagenfurt-Trainer): “In the first half we just didn’t perform as well as I expected. We played too scared and made too many mistakes in the build-up.”

Thorsten Mahrer (Klagenfurt player): “In the end it was not enough. We were motivated, well prepared, but unfortunately we slept through the first half collectively. If we play like we did in the first half, we won’t win much in the Bundesliga. We tried to do a few things better in the second half and we succeeded.”
