Bulgaria has sought help from the FBI for Alexey Petrov’s phone, the city attorney said Iliana Kirilova at a media briefing.
A few months after the murder of the businessman the prosecutor’s office announced that an examination of his phone should clarify the possible motive for the shooting against him. On August 16, he was shot on the way to Vitoshanear the metropolitan district “Dragalevtsi”.
“The conclusion states that the phone cannot be unlocked and decrypted. We found this out at the end of October and started looking for such experts who could help us. Bulgaria does not have such a technique that can open such a phone. We’ve enlisted the help of the FBI. They themselves confirmed that a phone with a disconnected battery, such as the one we are talking about, can hardly be decoded, but in all probability the services will help us because they have such equipment,” Kirilova pointed out.
