The polyclinic introduced a unique fee – for booking an appointment.
It is about the polyclinic “Bulgaria”, which demands 46 BGN from the patient just for making an appointment. However, the fee only applies to patients with referrals, who would otherwise only pay a BGN 3 user fee.
Journalist Zhanina Dragostinova announced the fee on social networks:
“Call center fee”. An acquaintance of mine just told me how she made an appointment by phone for a doctor at the “Bulgaria” polyclinic and the voice in the receiver explained to her that there is a fee of 46 BGN for making an appointment. The fee for the doctor is something separate, it’s a fee that you call on the phone and from there they give you an appointment. If the patient made an appointment directly with the doctors, then there was no charge for the “phone appointment” service.
The amount of BGN 46 was for the call center serving the polyclinic. Is this possible? I called and checked. The following was explained to me: this is an “administrative service” fee and is only for people who go with a referral. Those who go to a private reception, the fee of BGN 46 is included in the price. The health insurance fund paid the health service, but not the administrative one. Yes, it was not in other places, but in the “Bulgaria” polyclinic it was. I asked what else an administrative service involved and it was explained to me that for example if the doctor was absent they phoned to alert the patient. They did not do it in the other health facilities. They also emailed the relevant documents to the referring doctor. It’s like buying cheese, paying the saleswoman to cut the piece for you. It’s shameless.”
A Dnes.bg reporter also contacted the polyclinic and the call center employee explained that the fee is because in case the doctor is unable to see you, they will call you “specially” so that you don’t have to go there – something that dozens of others medical centers do for free. Also have sites through which hours can be recorded without money.
