About 150 demobilized children and victims of sexual violence in Bukavu (South Kivu) have been reunited for a few days with their families thanks to the project of the Bureau for volunteering in the service of children and health (BVES).

The director of this civic organization, Murhabazi Namegabe, indicated that the visit, this Friday, March 3, marked the end of this project.

« This project enabled 150 children dissociated with armed groups to return to their homes and reunified children to be placed in youth centers for empowerment. It allowed young people aged 16 to 17 to learn trades “, did he declare.

Murhabazi Namegabe also pleaded for an unhurried departure from MONUSCO with regard to work and its involvement in the protection of children in this part of the country.

Upon her arrival in this center, the head of MONUSCO, Bintou Keita welcomed the impact of this project.

« For us, it’s important to arrive here and see the initiatives that are over several years that allow us to improve the management of difficult issues. ‘Cause everyone here is from tough times “, did she say.

The representative of the UN Secretary General in the DRC hoped that such a project could continue in favor of children.
