The BSP remains without representatives in the Metropolitan Municipal Council, because the vote for the election of the chairman is an assembly with PP-DB and GERB – a model against which the party has been fighting for years. With the voting and allocation of positions in the standing committees, the municipal councilors, elected on the BSP list, legitimized this model and actually returned GERB to power in Sofia. BSP leader Cornelia Ninova said this with Sopot. In the city of Ivan Vazov, she took part in the Staroplaninsky council “Let’s warm hearts with wine and love” at the invitation of the mayor of the municipality Stanislav Stoenchev.
On the occasion of the statement a day earlier that there will be punishments for municipal councilors from BSP in SOS Ninova explained that what they will be will be decided by the National Council when a meeting is called. We are not a party where the leader makes unilateral decisions, she added. But yesterday the Executive Bureau dissociated itself from the actions of our municipal councilors, we removed the political trust and we declare that with what they did, they now represent only themselves, they do not represent the BSP, Cornelia Ninova pointed out.
To a question from “Maritsa” what consequences does he expect for the BSP after the removal of confidence from the municipal councilors, who were elected just three months ago, the Socialist leader replied: “I expect people to understand the position of leadership and to know that we are on a firm and consistent stand in the fight against backroom dealings, collusion and involvement in politics for personal gain only. We categorically continue our path of fighting these phenomena in Bulgarian politics, no matter how thorny it is and no matter how severe the consequences are for us.”
Ninova also pointed out that with what the municipal councilors, elected from the BSP lists, did they do not represent the BSP anyway. Because the people who voted for them in the elections and in the National Council should not make such assemblies. The most important thing in politics remains the moral image. “I can not imagine, that these are the same people who guarded the Monument to the Soviet Army, with whom we strongly condemned the destruction of the monument and that cake with the children’s heads. And yesterday we legitimized those same people and what we fought against for so many years. Morality and dignity stand above everything in politics,” she also commented.
Instead of rotation – disassembly and resignation are needed, the rulers should leave and we should go to elections. Kornelia Ninova also stated on the occasion of Boyko Borisov’s statement that if GERB does not get the Foreign Ministry, there will be both European and parliamentary elections.
“The rulers are not doing anything good for Bulgaria and for the people, they have dedicated the work to the assembly of the arrangement of posts, to party “callins” in regulators, to legislation that contradicts the Constitution and the basic laws of the state, they are absolutely not for the people. Now the prices of mobile operators, of water, everything is going up, nothing concrete is being done for the people, they are just fighting for positions”, Ninova explained.
She added that BSP is always ready for elections. “Recently, every other year we hold elections, so we are constantly ready,” she noted.
When asked by “Maritsa” if he would indicate names that we will see in the BSP lists for the European elections, Ninova stated that it is still early days. The nomination campaign is currently underway, it is going from below from the main party organizations. This is a long process that will continue for another month and a half.
Regarding the time of possible parliamentary elections, the leader of the Socialists directed attention to the rulers. “It’s up to them. But after they bet the fate of the state in their dispute for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, elections will obviously be held,” Ninova emphasized. She also said that PP-DB and GERB do not argue about what our foreign policy should be. “Both GERB and PP-DB lead a foreign policy of subservience, of servitude, of selling national interests,” she commented and added that they are unanimous there.
“From what we hear, it is clear that which of the two countries will produce a foreign minister is important in order to discredit the other in front of foreigners. Do you imagine that this could be the meaning of politics and the existence of a government? Who will slander the other in front of foreigners,” commented Ninova.
“The important thing is what kind of foreign policy Bulgaria leads, because on the threshold of the European elections, we want a strong Europe, but with protected Bulgarian national interestprotection of Bulgarian interests, let’s send people to the European Parliament to defend Bulgaria”, the leader of the BSP is categorical.
