Bruni Heinke consciously chooses the single life: ‘I’m no longer suitable for a man in my life’

Though it has been almost thirty years since Bruni was dropped from the soap by then producer Johan Nijenhuis, much to his dissatisfaction, she is still recognized to this day. This also has to do with Bruni’s timeless face, on which, at 82, there are still very few wrinkles to discover. Despite her still-glamorous appearance, Bruni is hampered by the ravages of time. “I’ve also noticed that I’m getting old. Sometimes it makes me a little angry. Like: damn, you were able to do it! I’ve learned to tell myself: no, you can’t do that anymore. Just sit down. Then move on in fifteen minutes. An example: I can no longer walk in high heels. I can stand on it. So I have to deliver it…”

Staying home alone

It was a conscious choice for Bruni not to have children. “I never liked children. I’ve always worked hard, I had to go on stage every night. I never had the desire to have children. My niece’s kids are about 10, 11, 12 years old. Then I like them. But I don’t like children. I like them, but nothing more.’ When Bruni returns home after a day of filming or a day of volunteering, only her foster cat Beertje is there to greet her. ‘I don’t have a partner. On the one hand it is a pity, but on the other hand even better. I am no longer suitable for a man in my life. I am happy with my life and I like going to the theater or to a concert with someone. But after that I just want to be alone. I like being home alone.’
