Brooklyn crushes Detroit and Harden hunts Larry Bird

Brooklyn Nets had a treat this past morning against the Detroit Pistons. They won well (117-91) to link two consecutive victories for the first time this season and they also did so by crushing, as expected from a team led by Kevin Durant and James Harden: between the two, 41 points without exceeding 30 minutes of play … for different reasons .

Durant had 23 points on a near-perfect day on the pitch (10/13 – 1/1 from the triple) in 27 minutes on the court. The reason, he was sent off in the third quarter after receiving a flagrant type 2 foul when he got hooked with Kelly Olynyk while trying to overcome a block. Harden’s participation, on the other hand, was not necessary in a final stretch in which the Nets reached 30 points difference on the scoreboard (110-80). The point guard signed a new triple-double in his career with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. It is number 59, a figure that places him in eighth place in the historical ranking, equaling the myth Larry Bird.

Good day at the launch

Detroit could do little against an opponent who was superb on both sides of the court. Brooklyn clearly dominated the rebound (41-29) and the launch: 65.3% from field goals (47/72) with 52% from the triple (13/25). The Nets also had good ball movement with 30 assists, while the Pistons got stuck. They could neither run nor play comfortable in static. In short: “We couldn’t get them out of their rhythm,” confessed Cory Joseph, the top scorer for the Michigan franchise with (only) 13 points.

“They are (my players) somewhere in the middle in their growth process. And what you have to have is patience and that is what we have. A long way awaits us. We understand where we are. We’re not going to skip letters in the alphabet just to try and win tonight. So that’s where we are. We know what we are and I have been there before, and I know there is no magic wand, “said Dwane Casey, coach of some young Pistons who they didn’t count on Cade Cunningham. The number one in the last draft made his NBA debut the night before after missing the entire preseason and in the first four games of the season with a right ankle problem.
