British Queen annoyed by world leaders ‘who talk, but don’t do’ | showbiz

RoyaltyYou usually never hear the British Queen Elizabeth (95) give her personal opinion on matters of state. But on Thursday she was caught in a striking statement.

The British Queen attended the opening of the Welsh Parliament in Cardiff. She was there talking to Camilla (the Duchess of Cornwall) and Member of Parliament Elin Jones. The event was streamed live, so part of their conversation was clear to follow. For example, you could hear the Queen talking about COP26, the upcoming climate conference in Glasgow. “It’s pretty incredible,” she said. “I keep hearing things about COP26. I still don’t know who’s coming. No idea. We just know who’s not coming. And it’s very frustrating when they do talk , but don’t.”

It is not clear who exactly the Queen was talking about. Although it is already known that Chinese President Xi will not be there yet. Whether Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Russian Vladimir Putin will be there remains a question mark for the time being.

Prins William

The Queen’s interlocutor, Elin Jones, responded in agreement to the British royal’s comment: “Exactly,” it sounded. “It’s time to do something. By the way, I saw your grandson on television this morning. He said it was no use going to space because we have to save the Earth.” To which the Queen responded proudly: “Yes, I’ve read about it.”

Indeed, Prince William also had a striking message: “Some of the greatest minds in the world should try to fix this planet, rather than try to find the next place to live,” he told an interviewer. BBC The criticism came a day after Star Trek actor William Shatner’s space journey, who became the oldest human ever in space at 90, was the second manned mission of Blue Origin, the space company of Jeff Bezos. Billionaires Richard Branson and Elon Musk have also focused on space tourism.

Concrete action

Ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow (COP26), which kicks off on October 31, Prince William urged concrete action from world leaders. “If we don’t pay attention, we’re going to steal our children’s future,” it sounds. “I want the things I’ve always enjoyed – the outdoors, nature, the environment – always be there for my kids. And not just for my children, but for everyone’s.”

Prince William thus supports the statement of his father, Prince Charles (72). The British Crown Prince had stated early this week that he was concerned that world leaders would “just talk” at the Glasgow climate conference, instead of taking actions that drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Environmentally aware

The Queen’s statements may be unusual, but they are not unexpected. Elizabeth has been committed to the climate for some time and has therefore implemented many environmentally conscious changes at Buckingham Palace. For example, she had smart meters installed to monitor energy consumption, opted for LED lighting where possible and had natural gas converted into electricity. Windsor Castle reportedly gets 40 percent of its electricity from two water turbines on the Thames. Moreover, the Queen also keeps the reins herself: for example, she would go around the palace herself to turn off all the lights.
