British PM admits Russia can win in Ukraine, war delays until 2023

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Prime Minister EnglishBoris Johnson, admits the possibility Russia win the war in Ukraine and the battle could rage on until the end of 2023.

Johnson made the remarks when asked about intelligence estimates that the war could last until the end of next year and Russia won.

“Sadly, it’s a realistic possibility,” Johnson told reporters when asked for a comment on the British intelligence statement on Friday (22/4), as quoted by Reuters. AFP.

Johnson admits that Russian President Vladimir Putin has a strong army. But according to him, Putin made a big blunder by ordering the invasion of Ukraine.

“The option he has now is actually to continue with this horrible approach,” Johnson said.

However, Johnson paid tribute to the fierce resistance of Ukrainian troops. He also promised to provide assistance to the Ukrainian military and the countries around it.

According to Johnson, realistic negotiations to end the war are impossible at this time.

In negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky asked for security guarantees from a number of Western countries.

However, Johnson said that Ukraine and Europe were still discussing the security guarantee agreement.

“What Ukraine wants, and I think is happening now, is a guarantor of the collective security of like-minded countries, a security commitment to what they are doing to help them,” he said.

The commitments include providing weapons, training, and sharing information from intelligence so as to protect Ukraine if at any time a foreign country attacks them.

Until now, Ukraine is still under Russian attack after Putin launched the invasion on February 24.

Currently, Russia is intensifying attacks in eastern Ukraine. Ukraine accuses the Kremlin of wanting to split its country into two, like North Korea and South Korea.
