Charles knew Sher well because for many years he was part of the Royal Shakespeare Company, the theater of which the Prince presides. “I admired him immensely for the perfect way in which he performed his craft and played every part with passion,” said the prince. “I feel very blessed to have known him, but we have all lost a brilliant greatness of the theatre.”
Charles wishes the Royal Shakespeare Company and Sher’s husband and director Greg Doran all the best. “They will feel the greatest sorrow at the passing of a great man and an irreplaceable talent.”
Sher played major roles in the theater company such as Macbeth and King Lear. The British actor has also appeared in dozens of major films, including Shakespeare in Love, Mrs Brown and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
