Britain sign free trade deal with New Zealand

The United Kingdom and New Zealand have agreed on a free trade agreement. The deal was closed after sixteen months of negotiations. They started after Brexit.

The countries have agreed, among other things, to abolish taxes on certain products. This concerns, for example, kiwis, honey and white wine from New Zealand and clothing and bulldozers from the United Kingdom. It is also easier for British people to work in New Zealand and vice versa.

Prime Ministers Johnson and Ardern announced the news in a Zoom call. “This is a great trade deal for the United Kingdom, strengthening our long-standing friendship with New Zealand and ties to the Indo-Pacific,” Johnson said. Ardern was also enthusiastic. She says it is New Zealand’s best trade deal in history.
