Bristol Myers Squibb: Michael Lugez is the new General Manager for Switzerland and Austria

Steinhausen – Bristol Myers Squibb announces a change in management: Michael Lugez will take over strategic management for Switzerland and Austria as the new General Manager in September. In this position he succeeds Remo Gujer, who has been appointed General Manager for Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, Israel and India.

With immediate effect, Michael Lugez will take over the management of the Swiss and Austrian sites at the global bio-pharmaceutical company Bristol Myers Squibb. Most recently, Lugez was General Manager of the Swedish market at Bristol Myers Squibb, where he ensured strong growth despite the Covid-19 situation. Michael Lugez joined Celgene over six years ago as Business Unit Director for the Inflammation and Immunology division, where he rose to General Manager for Celgene Nordics after just four years. The experienced manager has now been with the company for over six years and previously held several management positions at Pfizer. Lugez completed his MBA in Paris at the IAE France – La Sorbonne.

The internationally experienced pharmaceutical expert succeeds the Swiss-born Remo Gujer, who has headed the Switzerland and Austria locations as General Manager since 2019. Gujer has significantly influenced the strategic orientation of the locations and ensured that patients in Switzerland and Austria receive quick and equal access to innovative treatments.

Michael Lugez will continue to drive the positioning of the BioPharma company in the pharmaceutical locations of Switzerland and Austria. His vision is that the pharmaceutical industry can do more than just provide innovative medicines to support patients and their families. Accordingly, he wants to strongly promote the initiative “Because there is more to do” launched by Bristol Myers Squibb in 2020. With this initiative, the company opened a dialogue platform for local health experts to share knowledge and ideas and work out proposed solutions together. (Bristol Myers Squibb / mc / ps)
