Since March 16, the jurisdictions under the jurisdiction of the Nancy Court of Appeal have continued to carry out the essential missions provided for in the context of business continuity plans. From May 11, the Court of Appeal and the courts of Nancy, Val de Briey, Bar-le-Duc, Verdun and Épinal gradually resume processing all civil and criminal cases, this resumption of activity operating on the basis of the return of personnel to the courts and in strict compliance with health regulations, in order to guarantee the safety of users, agents of the judicial services and auxiliaries of justice.
This is how the reopening of the court of appeal will be carried out under the following conditions:
– access to the premises of the jurisdiction will be limited to only persons with a direct interest;
– a hydroalcoholic solution will be made available to them in the reception hall so that they can disinfect their hands as soon as they arrive;
– the wearing of the mask will be recommended inside the building of the court of appeal, people, called to enter it, are invited to bring it;
– access to the courtrooms will be limited to the maximum capacities resulting from the recommendations of the Ministry of Health (4 m² per person);
– the barrier measures and the rules of physical distance will be strictly applied in the jurisdiction, in particular by markings on the ground and the condemnation of certain seats in the courtrooms.
In addition, with a view to preserving everyone’s health, the use of transitional legal devices, such as the procedure without a hearing in civil matters or videoconferencing in criminal matters, will be favored.
