Now Bridgerton star Adhoa Andoha is saying she “didn’t mean to offend anyone” after sparking a backlash by calling the Buckingham Palace balcony “horribly white” on Coronation Day.
As millions of people watched the newly crowned king and queen with the rest of the royal family from the balcony home to the crowd, this comment from the actress was broadcast live, clearly conveying a “racist” association.

Afterwards, speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Sunday Morning programme, she was quick to make amends: “I think I offended a few people yesterday. I was talking about the day and how wonderful it was and it was all different races together and then at the end I looked onto the balcony and automatically said, ‘Oh, it’s so white!’ I didn’t want to upset anyone.”
The Daily Mail reports that Ofcom has already been inundated with complaints after a ‘Bridgerton’ star told ITV that the view from the Buckingham Palace balcony on the day of the coronation was “horribly white”. Many people have taken to Twitter to express their outrage at Adhoa Andoha’s views.
