Bridge arches will soon be swum in | Nachrichten.at

Work on the construction of the new Linz Danube Bridge is progressing. In about a month, the characteristic arches of the bridge should span the Danube from Urfahr to Linz. The basis for this are platforms with which the bridge arches are floated in. These pontoons are already on their way to Linz: On Sunday the two push boats “Geertruida van der Wees” and “Nicolaas van der Wees” left Rotterdam in the Netherlands, reports Otto Steindl, consultant for Danube shipping. The captains of the two 900 hp push boats expect to arrive in Linz with the floating platforms in mid-February.

In the meantime, the last of a total of four layers of paint is currently being applied to the bridge structure. This gives it its color design in light gray and should be permanently protected and weatherproof.
