The state board of the Bremen Greens massively criticized the school openings in Bremen. The request of the Senator of Education Claudia Bogedan (SPD) to send “all children” to the parents in school is wrong in the current situation, according to a message from the Greens.

According to the board of the Bremen Greens, the corona infection numbers are far too high for schools to be opened. Therefore, contacts would have to be drastically reduced. Therefore, students should primarily study at home.

For us Greens, the top priority is therefore to continue to reduce the number of infections in order to protect the many people in vulnerable groups and to avoid overloading our health system.

Criticism from the coalition

Only children of single parents and employees in so-called systemically important professions should be able to go to school. Otherwise, you run the risk of the lockdown taking longer or even schools having to be closed completely. The new, even more contagious virus mutation also speaks in favor of not taking classroom lessons.

The Senator for Education did not want to comment on the objections. With the statements of the green state executive, the Senator of Education is now for the first time countering public criticism, including from a coalition partner. In the past few days, parents and the Education and Science Union have spoken out.
