Social media regulation was accepted in the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
The law proposal for the amendment of the law on the regulation of publications made on the internet known as social media regulation and combating the crimes committed through these publications was accepted at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
Nervous night in parliament
According to the news of Saliha Çolak from Habertürk, while the General Assembly of TBMM was working until the morning for its social media offer, a fight broke out before the last vote.
When HDP deputy Hüseyin Kaçmaz accused the government of making Kurdish hostility, a reaction came from the AK Party ranks. Meanwhile, after the words of the deputy of Diyarbakır Oya Eronat, the session was interrupted.
After a break of about an hour, the general assembly was reopened. Eronat was proposed to be given “condemnation for his rude and hurtful words”. AK Party Group President Naci Bostancı said that Kaçmaz’s speech was extremely hurtful and that Eronat’s words should be taken in the context of the reaction. “The speaker was not told, he points to the pronoun. He meant the PKK,” said Bostanci.
The proposal was rejected with the AK Party and MHP votes. Eronat was not sentenced to condemnation. There was tension again at the general assembly. There was a short-term conflict between the AK Party and CHP deputies, and the session was interrupted.
