The breakdowns that affected the Swisscom network during the first months of the year worried the National Telecommunications Commission. It met with the management of the company and took note of a report from the Federal Office of Communications on universal service.

The Swisscom network experienced seven outages between January 17 and May 26. They affected all of Switzerland. Emergency call services were sometimes not available and the alarm centers were temporarily not available.
Swisscom has commissioned two external audits to analyze these failures. According to the Federal Office of Communications, the failures were analyzed in a comprehensive and thorough manner. The telecommunications company has already taken steps, in particular to increase network stability and improve the situation with emergency response organizations.
The committee also considers it urgent to take action in the area of mobile phone service provision. She therefore wrote to the government so that before the end of the year it would present a report on a mobile network that respects sustainable development.
