São Paulo (AP) – Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was released from the hospital on Wednesday after two days. The 66-year-old had to go to a clinic in São Paulo for treatment on Monday because of an intestinal obstruction.
Now the right-wing populist politician published a photo on Twitter that shows him with his doctors. Everyone has their thumbs up. No surgical intervention was required, according to the government.
Bolsonaro had already been treated in the clinic for several days in July for an intestinal obstruction. According to him, the complaints go back to a knife attack in the 2018 election campaign. At the time, a mentally disturbed man stabbed him and inflicted serious abdominal injuries. Bolsonaro had to be operated on several times.
There are presidential elections in Brazil in October. Bolsonaro is applying for a second term. As head of state, he is controversial. He was recently criticized in Brazil for not having interrupted his vacation despite severe flooding in the state of Bahia.
