Brazilian Leader Proposes Group of Countries to Mediate Russia’s War Against Ukraine

The Brazilian leader said he had spoken with the presidents of the United Arab Emirates and China about creating a group of countries like the G20 advanced economies to mediate Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“Yesterday I spoke with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan about war. I spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping about peace. And I think we find people who prefer to talk about peace rather than war. I think we will achieve success,” he said.

Notably, Silva’s visit to China focused on strengthening ties and spreading the message that “Brazil has returned as a key player on the world stage.” At the same time, the country is teetering on the edge as it also seeks closer ties with Washington.

Earlier, Lula called on the United States to stop “encouraging” the war in Ukraine.

Recall, according to media reports, Ukraine wants to buy weapons from Brazil to counter Russian aggression, but the authorities of the Latin American country refuse and insist on peace talks.
