Brazilian Actor Jefferson Machado Found Dead in Trunk After Four Months of Disappearance

His body was found in a chest buried at a depth of almost two meters in Rio de Janeiro in the backyard of a house in Campo Grande, Brazil. Machado’s hands were tied, and a metal wire was wrapped around his neck, which indicates that they tried to strangle the artist.

The telenovela star was 44 years old. He disappeared in January 2023 and his body was found on May 22, four months after he disappeared.

How writes The DailyMail, a lawyer for the actor’s family, said the chest belonged to Machado and had previously been removed from his home.

“Jefferson was murdered in cold blood and brutally by envious, evil and, of course, unscrupulous people,” family friend Cynthia Hilsendeger wrote on Instagram of the actor.

Machado’s family learned that he had disappeared after they were told by a non-governmental agency that his eight dogs were left abandoned at his home in Rio de Janeiro. Each of the dogs had their own tracking device – two of them died, and six are being treated at a veterinary center.

The actor’s mother, Maria das Dores, said she last spoke to her son on January 29. According to the woman, Jefferson traveled to Sao Paulo for a job interview and stayed at a friend’s house. She became worried when she stopped receiving calls from her son. Instead, the woman received only text messages with errors. “He also wrote that he had dropped his cell phone in the toilet so he couldn’t make a video call,” Machado’s mother shared.

According to Das Dores, her son was killed by scammers who promised to help him get a role in a soap opera on the local Brazilian TV Globo channel.

Das Dores says the killers killed her son to take his car, house and money from a recent lawsuit he won.

“He trusted these fake friends who made him believe that he would succeed even if he took the money (from him),” Das Dores said.

Note that Jefferson Machado left eight dogs, whom he loved very much. With the disappearance of the owner, two of them died.
