MONS ON ZOOM – The special corona department in the Bravis hospital in Roosendaal has been closed. The hospital announced this. Patients with proven corona have been treated in a separate, closed department since the end of March, but because the number of corona patients has decreased considerably, such a department is no longer necessary.
The so-called ‘cohort department’ in Bergen op Zoom will be maintained for the time being. “In Roosendaal, we are now again switching to cohort nursing. This means that both corona suspected and proven patients are being treated in an isolation room in a department.”
The number of corona patients in the Bravis hospital has remained stable over the past week. At present, 23 patients with proven corona are nursed in the hospital, as many as last Thursday. The number of corona patients in the Intensive Care Unit has decreased from sixteen to fourteen. The number of patients who have recovered enough to go home has risen to 145. Since the outbreak of the virus, 42 patients have died of corona in the Bravis hospital. That means that four people have died from the corona virus in the past week.
Regular care in the Bravis hospital is being restarted step by step, which is why various measures have been taken to minimize the risk of infection. “The most important way to prevent infection with the coronavirus in the hospital is to ward off people with colds. The chance that patients without a virus will transmit a possible virus is very small.”
