Brand-new service from dm in the test: product has two catches

CHIP did the test and tried out the dispensing systems in one of the two Hamburg branches. To fill up, you can either use a Nivea shower cream bottle that you have brought with you or you can get one at the petrol pump. Place the bottle in the filling system and press a button. If nothing comes out and the button flashes, you have to contact a dm employee. After filling up, the machine spits out a sticker with a barcode that you stick on the bottle. The code is scanned at the checkout.

When we tried, everything went smoothly. We think it is very welcome that the bottle is already made of recycled plastic. dm asks his customers to return the bottle to the cash register after three fillings. Reason: The drugstore giant wants to examine these used bottles and learn more about the material and its durability. As an incentive, the fourth time you tap, dm will not only give you a new bottle, but also a filling – provided you have just given the old bottle to the cash register.

The price is unfortunately not cheaper than the normal price: 1.45 euros. Here we would have liked at least a slight saving as an incentive. We also criticize that there are only two types of shower gel (shower gel care cream soft and cream sensitive) and hope that the range will be expanded to include a men’s shower gel or shampoos. In addition, we would like to be able to put containers or bottles that you have brought with you into the system and not have to rely solely on the Nivea nursing shower bottles.
