Bragantino loses at home to Fortaleza and Pedro Caixinha’s team out of contention for Brasileirão title

It was already practically a mirage, but now it has become impossible: Pedro Caixinha’s Bragantino lost at home to Fortaleza (2-1) and no longer has a mathematical chance of winning the Brasileirão title.

Playing at home, the Portuguese coach’s team did not start the game well and found themselves losing 2-0 after 24 minutes: Yago Pikachu opened the scoring, Calebe increased the advantage.

Bragantino pulled one back just before the break, through Eduardo Sasha, but were unable to reverse the course of events in the second half, where they saw Eric Ramires (74m) and Alerrandro (78m) being sent off.

With this result, Caixinha’s team, now with three consecutive defeats, is in sixth place, with 59 points: however, they guaranteed their presence in the Libertadores qualifying round, as a result of Athletico Paranaense’s draw against Cruzeiro. Fortaleza is 11th, with 48.

In turn, Goiás, with Raphael Guzzo on the bench, lost 2-1 at Grémio’s home and saw their relegation confirmed.

Everton Morelli even scored first for the visitors, in the 28th minute, but Ferreira and Cristaldo, in the 50th and 57th minutes, respectively, turned the score around.

With two rounds to go, Grémio guarantees qualification for the Copa Libertadores, while Goiás no longer has a chance of reaching the permanent places.
