Boys from Asti greet the Pope – Vatican News Vatican

The Pope returned to the Vatican on the afternoon of Nov. 20 after a two-day visit to Asti, Italy. Before leaving, the teenagers of the diocese of Asti greeted him cordially.

(Vatican News Network)The Pope visited the Italian city of Asti from 19 to 20 November. 1,340 young people representing the parishes and prayer groups of the diocese of Asti accompanied the Pope to the Stadio Comunale in Asti before his return by helicopter to the Vatican.

The teenagers standing on the steps shouted “We want the Pope”. One of them, twins, gave the Pope a bouquet of yellow and white flowers and some photos. In addition, a boy gave the pope a red and white shirt from the Asti football team with the number 10 Francesco printed on it.

The pope’s greeting took place amid songs and dances by young people from youth pastoral groups and Catholic processions from the diocese of Asti. Before boarding the helicopter, the pope greeted the firefighters, the relief leaders and the boys who repeatedly shouted “Goodbye Francesco” in the car. It ended with a farewell hug and a goodbye to Bishop Marco Prastaro of Asti. The Pope’s helicopter took off for the Vatican at 3.30pm.
