Boy flew to hospital after incident in swimming pool in Øygarden

People in the swimming pool discovered that the boy was under water. They picked him up and performed the “necessary action” in anticipation of health personnel, says general manager Ronny Roberts in Øyane swimming club, which runs Hjeltefjorden Arena, to Bergen T

The emergency services were called at 11.30 on Saturday, and the cause of the incident is currently unknown.

– The fire crews did the measures they could, gave first aid and assisted ambulance people when they arrived, says fire chief Bjørn Olav Paulsen at Øygarden fire and rescue center.

The boy was then transported to Haukeland University Hospital by air ambulance.

– We have started our entire device and follow the procedures we have when such things happen. The most important thing for us now is to take care of those involved, including the lifeguards who are employed here, Roberts tells the newspaper.
