In the 1980s and 1990s, the breathtaking landscape of the Upper Engadine was the scene of a tragedy that was long taboo. Inspired by the Zurich riots, the young people opposed the traditional rules of society. The village square of Samedan becomes a meeting place for youth culture. But with making music and smoking weed together, heroin also found its way into the youth movement …

Drug addiction and the resulting deaths shocked the entire region. Powerlessness and recriminations divide the village community – and for a long time prevented these events from being dealt with. “Suot tschêl blau” gives space to memories that parents and friends have kept to themselves for so long. Is it possible today for a reconciliation, for a collective memory to emerge under this deep blue sky?
