These are the words of the former adviser to the former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov – Yane Yanev. They were recorded with a hidden camera in the ACF investigation and refer to the entrepreneur Veselin Denkov, who was accused of usury and kept in custody for months. The anti-corruption organization released the second part of the film “The Story of Veselin Denkov and Specialized Justice”.
It becomes clear in it how there are testimonies against Denkov of secret witnesses, which, however, refer not to direct impressions, but to “I heard”, “they told me”, etc. It is clear from Yanev that SANS has created two reports, in which a connection is made between Denkov and Vasil Bozhkov. It is also stated that the accused businessman from Dubai is financing the protests against Borissov’s government through Denkov.

Veselin Denkov himself denies knowing Bozhkov. He says he went to the protests because he has something to be unhappy about with the former rulers. And in the restaurant business, he and his colleagues sought a lawyer, Nikolai Hadjigenov, to advise them on their request for a VAT reduction in the industry. Denkov clarified that he saw a man filming him at the protest and believes that he was a man from the services.
Yane Yanev admits that it is necessary for Denkov and people like him to have intermediaries to liaise with the institutions.
In the ACF film it becomes clear how, in case of urgency, the investigators took away the jewelry of Ivayla Bakalova – the woman with whom the restaurateur lives. So far, these values have nothing to do with the accusation, but the prosecutor’s office has not returned them.
“I certainly helped Borislava Yovcheva. She is the woman who is supposed to be the owner of the house in Barcelona,” said Ivayla Bakalova, winner of Miss Bulgaria. Yovcheva is said to have had relations between Prime Minister Borissov and to have bought her a house in Barcelona. “In 2019, a friend called me and asked me if I could help her friend, who wants to move, wants to move her child. I knew who this girl was. This is proof that we do not want to harm Borissov. I helped this girl as much as I could. (…) Speaking of Dubai, I want people to know that I am commenting on it now, because this is a kind of family for Mr. Borissov, and my family has been in custody for seven months, “Bakalova stressed.
