The resigned Prime Minister Boyko Borissov linked the parliamentary moratorium on the decisions of the executive branch with the future of the French school “Victor Hugo” in Sofia.

In a conversation with French Ambassador Florence Robin Borissov, “he expressed hope that the moratorium adopted by parliament yesterday against the cabinet, which he said was unconstitutional, would not allow the government’s decision on the French school to be hurt,” the government said in a statement. The moratorium imposed by the deputies refers to decisions of the Council of Ministers on the granting of concessions, the sale of state and municipal hospitals and the appointments in the state administration.

“We have done everything to ensure that the children in Sofia have a French school that provides a high quality education,” Borissov was quoted as saying of the government’s decision to provide land for a new building for the French school, for which Ambassador Robin thanked. The school operates under an agreement between the Bulgarian and French governments from 2010 and educates about 800 children. According to Robin, 80% of them are Bulgarian.
