GERB begins consultations on the formation of a government with the other parties in the National Assembly and suspends negotiations with PP-DB, even if the coalition abandons its nomination of Asen Vasilev for finance minister. This was announced by GERB leader Boyko Borisov on the sidelines of the parliament on Wednesday. This comes a day after the PP-DB proposed their project for a minority government.
“We showed responsibility, it is unheard of to form a government with 69 deputies, even more so with 64. With this behavior, and with their attempt to bribe us – they would put 2 billion in a commission in the parliament to finance the municipalities, and they would give us commissions. When they broke up GERB, they didn’t give us a single commission. We can do with the other parties so that they don’t get commissions at all”, said Borisov.
He commented that GERB has serious reservations regarding the PP-DB program, because entire sectors in it generated many deficits.
“We have shown responsibility, with this behavior, with the attempt to bribe us with commissions, they blow up the only good situation for the state in order to go to local elections. From today, GERB-SDS starts negotiations with the other parties, we will not make a coalition,” said the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov.
“We will apply their same insidious grip – a minority government only from GERB-SDS”, said Borisov, but left a loophole that the negotiations with PP-DB are not over.
A day ago PP-DB presented their composition for a minority government with Prime Minister Prof. Nikolay Denkov and Asen Vasilev as Minister of Finance. Borisov stated that GERB will not accept such a government option and insists that experts from his party enter the cabinet in order to share the responsibility.
After the formation of the new parliament, Borissov said that he prefers to govern together with the PP-DB, but made it clear that there is also a plan “B” – an expert cabinet with DPS, BSP and ITN.
“We are not weak, we are responsible. The PP wants us to fail in the elections. Then we will not be angry if the people want to change the entire party system,” added the GERB leader.
According to him, the financier of finance will introduce the budget, and when he introduces it, it must be cut in order to reduce the deficit.
“If the deficit is below 3%, why will we take out 13 billion debt. Why will the state collapse, as it is splashed with money, as claimed by the PP. I have made a total of 12 budgets in my life, and 5 more as mayor, and I will make more budgets. It is not fair for me to take the responsibility myself and for you all to throw yourself at me again,” added the GERB leader.
