Up to several times, Boris Johnson has gone public and stated that the members of his government have complied with the corona restrictions and recommendations that they themselves have set during the corona pandemic.
Information has emerged about a number of occasions at Christmas last year that cast doubt on this.
On Sunday, the British tabloid newspaperThe Mirror refer to a leaked picture in which Johnson participates in a virtual Christmas quiz.
On the picture one can see the prime minister in the company of two colleagues, while sitting at a table and reading out quiz questions.
According to the newspaper, the quiz was held on December 15, 2020 in 10 Downing Street, which is the Prime Minister’s office.
At this time, Britain was in full shutdown, which then meant avoiding all forms of indoor gatherings with people who did not belong to their own household.
Johnson is now accused of exceeding this.
Record low trust
A source tells The Mirror that several other employees were gathered around the PC screens in various meeting rooms and drank beer. In four of the meeting rooms there must have been as many as six people gathered.
Several sources also have the collection opposite BBC. They are informed by their sources that the two people sitting in the same room as Johnson are members of his closest staff. They are said to have been there to help the Prime Minister with the technology.
– Boris Johnson really believes that there are some rules that only apply to him, and other rules that apply to everyone else. Despite repeated denials about parties, it now appears that there were several parties and assemblies and that the Prime Minister participated in this Christmas quiz, says the deputy head of Labor Angela Rayner to BBC.
The head of Labor, Keir Starmer, tells the BBC that it looks like Johnson has broken the corona rules.
The British authorities have also launched an investigation into suspicions that the government has met at several major gatherings – including two events in Downing Street – despite national rules.
According to Starmer, the events have led to confidence in the Prime Minister now being at a record low.

Rejects the accusations
As a result of the latest allegations against the government, a spokesman for Downing Street has made a statement in a press release to the British media.
The statement states that the Christmas quiz should have been a virtual quiz, and that many employees in the government had to physically show up at the office to work during the corona pandemic.
– Those who were in the office to work virtually participated in the Christmas quiz from their desks. The Prime Minister participated for a short period to thank his staff for their hard work and good efforts, the press release states.
At this time in December 2020, only a few exceptions allowed to break the assembly rules. Among other things, that it could be considered necessary to carry out its job.
Several gatherings
There are three gatherings from 2020 that are now being investigated, according to The Guardian.
One was a farewell event for an employee, which took place at 10 Downing Street on November 27. Boris Johnson is said to have attended this event.
The second was a social gathering with drinks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 10, and the third event was the Christmas quiz.
The episodes have, according to The Guardian, been much talked about after Boris Johnson’s former adviser, Dominic Cummings, on Friday claimed that pictures from the events could appear.
Shock detection on video
Among the corona rules that applied in the UK in December 2020 was that it was not allowed to arrange physical Christmas tables or Christmas gatherings.
The Christmas quiz took place just three days before an alleged Christmas dinner in Downing Street, where several of Johnson’s employees are said to have participated.
The Prime Minister and other members of the government have repeatedly denied that the Christmas table took place.
Earlier this week, however, a video appeared, in which several of the employees joke about how to explain away that they have violated the corona rules that they themselves had introduced a few days before, according to Sky News.
The video has received massive criticism, and Johnson has been shot with so many questions that he has had to strongly dissociate himself from the video and get rid of one of his spokeswomen, according to The Guardian.
New measures
The criticism of the Prime Minister and his government comes at a time when Johnson has much else on his plate.
The daily infection rates in the UK have not been as high as since January, and the omicron variant is spreading at a high rate.
If the government does not impose further restrictions, up to 75,000 people could die in England in the new year. It heralds a new forecast prepared by researchers London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
