Gearbox PAX Online made several important announcements about the future Borderlands 3.
Firstly, the shooter will be improved for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and players on PS4 and Xbox One will receive the update for free – all purchased add-ons and even saves will be transferred to the new generation of consoles.
The next gen versions will run in 4K at 60 FPS and will receive two long-awaited modes for local co-op: split-screen for four and the ability to adjust the split screen horizontally or vertically when playing together. The latter is also being implemented on PS4 and Xbox One.

But that’s just the beginning: at the end of the year, Gearbox will release its fifth paid add-on – it, however, will differ from the storyline expansions of the now completed Season Pass.
A completely new game mode is waiting for fans, as well as one additional pumping tree for each of the heroes – even a new active skill will be included in it. Z4KP has a fresh branch focusing on shields and survival, and a new ability will be Gravity Trap.
Whoever falls into the area of effect of the skill will not be able to carry out attacks – the enemy himself will jump, after which he will fall to the ground. This is a good ability to control a group of opponents.
The new character’s pet will be the “Hyperion” Loaderbot (screenshot in the news header).

More details about the upcoming expansion will be announced in the coming months, and next year, judging by the hints from the developers, crossplay will finally appear in the shooter.
In addition, Borderlands 3 will be updated for the Xbox Series S. So far, however, the features of this version are unknown.
