4 km from the Donbass War, the small town of Novhorodske this year regained the splendor of its original name: Нью-Йорк, New York! But in eastern Ukraine, the sun is not really bright.

VRoads in Ukraine that they travel in tandem, Swiss photographer Niels Ackermann and French correspondent Sébastien Gobert (RFI, Mediapart, Geneva Tribune) could not believe their eyes when, at a sniping distance from the front line which has been tearing Ukraine apart since 2014, they discovered the city of Novhorodske (10,000 souls) and its “New York” gas station, its “New York” pizzeria-bakery, further on a bus shelter illustrated with characters from the series The Simpsons, calling for “together transforming Ukrainian New York”.
