The Bolivian government once again accused former President Evo Morales on Monday of having an alleged affair with a minor, with whom he allegedly had a child.
“Today (Monday) it was handed over by the Vice-Ministry of Transparency a document reporting a possible new case of alleged rape of a minor, committed by former President Juan Evo Morales Ayma”, declared Guido Melgar at a press conference.
He indicated that his ministry had received an anonymous denunciation, corroborated by the services of the civil status.
These checks established that the minor “would have had a sentimental relationship with Juan Evo Morales Ayma and would have found herself pregnant when she was 15 years and five months old, giving birth to a daughter in February 2016 when she was 16 years old. », Added the vice-minister. “The child exists, the mother exists and the child has as a registered father Juan Evo Morales Ayma”, he insisted.
The file was sent on Monday to the office of the Defender of the Rights of Children and Adolescents in the city of La Paz so that he could take note of it and, possibly, file a criminal complaint.
“Terrorism and genocide”
The Bolivian government had already filed a criminal complaint last week against the former leftist president, who fled to Argentina last year, for an alleged affair with another minor.
The announcement came after the local press and social media broadcast of photographs of Evo Morales alongside a young woman now aged 19.
60-year-old Evo Morales (2006-2019) resigned in November after weeks of protests and pressure from the armed forces, following a controversial presidential election. The transitional Bolivian government has since increased the accusations against it, including those of sedition and terrorism due to social unrest between October and November 2019.
In mid-August, he also announced that he had filed a complaint against the former head of state for “terrorism and genocide”, accusing him, among other things, of being responsible for the roadblocks erected throughout the country in recent weeks in the midst of coronavirus pandemic.
The Movement towards Socialism (MAS), the party of Evo Morales, denounced a political maneuver in the middle of the campaign for the presidential and legislative elections scheduled for October 18.
