Better late than never. The singer Bohuš Matuš, who is currently celebrating his 50th birthday, was gifted with a perfect voice, but financial literacy slightly eluded him. Even though he could have paid off his mortgage long ago, he’s been subletting his entire life instead. Only concern for the future of his young wife Lucie (19) and daughter (2 and three-quarters years old) forced him to decide on his own housing, as eXtra.cz admitted.
Bohuš Matuš: Saving for a house
“I set a really sharp work pace. I rehearse the musical Troja almost every day at the Broadway Theater, and I also perform three times a day, I’m already a little tired,” singer Bohuš Matuš admitted to eXtra.cz.
But he has a reason for deploying a higher job grade.
“I’m trying because we have rented a beautiful barrack, but I would like to gradually build my own,” he explained to us.
At the same time, it was not so long ago that he rejected this possibility in an interview for eXtra.cz.
“I almost had my mortgage paid off, but I would pay it until I almost died. I’m going to be fifty. I could take a shorter one, but I’m afraid that although it’s going well now, it may not be going well later. I’m not worried about the girls, they’ll always have a good time. Lucinka has parents who would definitely help her,” he told us back in May.
Changing priorities
But his priorities have changed since then.
“I want my own house. I wanted to take out a mortgage, but I would really be paying an insane amount until I die. That’s why I earn, save, drive like a dragon,” revealed eXtra.cz.
The price is said to be reduced by his wife’s property. “Lucka has a huge plot of land, we can move the house there and it will be cheaper,” thinks the musician, who will celebrate his fiftieth birthday at the Štěnovice castle near Pilsen on Thursday, August 17.

“My wife Lucie and daughter Natálka will not be missing, and I will be there singing songs from the musicals Time of the Roses or Láska nebeská, I have invited my friend Magda Mala, and Jaroslav Břeský, the Czech Freddie Mercury, will also be there. It’s very good,” added Bohuš Matuš for eXtra.cz, adding that anyone can attend the birthday party and there will be surprises. And those who won’t catch up are invited to a late but big birthday concert at the Broadway Theater on November 6, 2023.
