September will be the month of the economic reactivation pilots in Bogotá. And this will include the test for restaurant openings.
That month, will begin the implementation of ‘Bogotá Al Aire Libre’, a project that will enable food and meeting points in the streets.

As confirmed by Claudia López, 100 streets in Bogotá will be closed so that restaurants and gastrobars can return to work.
“It is a very important sector, a generator of employment for young people. So that they can operate … we know that closed places, with little ventilation, are places of risk. In order for them to operate, we will have to remove space from the cars so that the restaurants can operate“said the mayor and indicated that there are 10 areas.
These closures would be made from Thursday to Sunday and would require biosecurity protocols.
The Mayor’s Office assured that “ños restaurants and cafeterias that are among the authorized areas, must advance their registration on the website www.bogota.gov.co/reactivacion-economica/ and meet a series of requirements to be able to function with all biosecurity measures “.
The program ‘Bogotá a Cielo Abierto’ includes six modalities for the reopening:
– Extensions: in front gardens or terraces
– Platforms: complying with urban regulations
– Enclosures: Pedestrian streets
– Use of park squares
– ‘Drive Thru’: Food to take away or in parking lots
– Food trucks
The Secretary of Economic Development, Carolina Durán, confirmed that 600 restaurants have already applied and Mobility and Health have already certified 300 to operate. 10,000 direct jobs are expected to be activated.
On the other hand, López assured that a reopening of sectors will be evaluated for days, to prevent the entire population from being on the streets.
“We will announce that new normal model in two weeks. So that we can distribute ourselves in time and space … slowly, but surely”
