Bogotá: 3 years have passed since the first case of covid-19

He Secretary of Health of Bogotá, Alejandro Gómezrecalled that on a day like today but three years ago, on March 6, 2020, the first covid case in the colombian capital: Since that date, more than 1,875,000 cases of people infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been registered, and some 30,000 have died.

According to the official, work has been carried out in an integral way and with the priority of saving lives within the capital since the first report was known, on March 6, 2020.

”Here there may even be people who are counted several times, because in some cases they hit someone several times. Of these, 97.9% did not recover but those less than 3% were the people who unfortunately died because of the covid; there are more than 30,000 families that mourn the loss of someone, ”she said.

He also explained that the vaccination plan was established as soon as the cure against this disease arrived, applying more than 16 million doses so far in the pandemic, being the first and second vaccine the ones that Bogotanos have the most.

”We did a very important job and on this date it is three years since the first diagnosis in the city of Bogotá we wanted to look back, we wanted to remember with deep respect for all the people who workedwho managed to get us here today and also for those who didn’t make it, “he said.

Alejandro Gómez assured that the level of vaccination is currently very good and that the challenge of increasing the number of citizens is being met who have been vaccinated with the four booster doses.

“It is likely that in the future we have to receive additional doses against the covid, we do not know with what periodicity, but it is no longer an epidemic disease, the virus continues to circulate. Due to this new circulation of the disease, it is likely that we will require more doses of vaccine”, he finished.
