And so the chance becomes more and more that SpaceX will get a full-fledged competitor. Two years ago, SpaceX became the first commercial company to fly astronauts to the ISS. Since then, SpaceX has regularly transported supplies and astronauts to the ISS with the Dragon capsule.
With the arrival of Boeing as a second player, the American space agency NASA is once again a lot less dependent on Russia for flying to the ISS. After the space shuttle era, NASA relied solely on Russian Soyuz rockets for 9 years to transport American astronauts to the ISS. Since 2020, it is possible to call on SpaceX for this, and soon possibly also on Boeing.
