Pertamina Mandalika racer Bo Bendsneyder carry the flag Indonesia to the 2023 Moto2 America podium after winning the third podium at the Austin Circuit, Sunday (16/4).
Bo Bendsneyder achieved impressive results in Moto2 America 2023. The Dutch rider finished third after starting fourth in that race.
The 24-year-old racer finished behind Pedro Acosta and Tony Arbolino. This achievement was Bendsneyder’s first podium in Moto2.
When climbing the podium of the American Moto2 Bendsneyder carried the Indonesian red and white flag. The 24-year-old racer holds tightly to the Indonesian flag and occasionally tries to unfurl it on the American Moto2 podium.
The action was Bendsneyder’s tribute to his late grandfather who came from Surabaya and also the President of the Pertamina Mandalika Team Rapsel Ali who passed away last week.
Bo Bendsneyder’s grandfather just died two days before the race, while Rapsel Ali passed away last week.
Because of that, to honor his grandfather and also his sponsor boss who came from Indonesia, Bendsneyder brought the red and white flag.
Apart from the great achievement for Bendsneyder personally, finishing third in Moto2 America 2023 is also the Pertamina Mandalika team’s highest achievement. This positive result is Pertamina Mandalika’s first podium in Moto2 since participating in the 2021 season.
By reaching the third podium in Moto2 America 2023, Bo Bendsneyder has now collected 16 points from three races and is ranked 12th in the Moto2 2023 standings.
