BMW Drops Controversial Heated Seats Subscription Fee: Customer Reactions and Industry Studies Revealed

BMW has dropped the controversial subscription fee for the car’s heated seats. The customers of the German car manufacturer were not delighted with such a service, as they felt they had overpaid, Peters Nota, a member of the BMW council for sales and marketing, admitted in an interview with the “Autocar” magazine.

A study by “S&P Global Mobility” shows that car owners are not opposed to the idea of subscription fees as such, if the offered options seem useful. On the other hand, a study by “Cox Automotive” revealed that the majority – 70 percent – of new car buyers will choose a different brand of car if they learn that they will have to pay a monthly fee for the functions already installed in the car.
