BlizzCon will return in 2023, says Blizzard president: “we are committed”

Mike Ybarra, the current president of Blizzard, has mentioned that the company “commits” to bringing back BlizzCon in 2023the annual conference that the company used to hold in person, but that since 2020 has gone through numerous difficulties, such as the pandemic and the internal situation of the company.

Ybarra confirmed the news in a recent interviewspecifying that plans to bring the event back are already underwayincluding the addition of a new BlizzCon leader who will ensure a triumphant return to the convention:

“We previously announced that we would be taking a hiatus from BlizzCon while reimagining it for the future but bringing it back as a live event that allows us to celebrate with the community.

We recently hired a new BlizzCon leader, April McKee, who is hard at work on that plan. […] We are committed to bringing BlizzCon back in 2023.”

The complicated history of BlizzCon in recent years

The last BlizzCon of our own that we had was in 2019year in which the expected Diablo 4. However, the arrival of the pandemic caused the cancellation of the conference in 2020, followed by multiple complaints from employees that caused a complicated situation within the company, obviously affecting the following presentations planned by the company.

BlizzCon 2021 was held digitally, with an in-person event planned by Blizzard later that year that was also sadly cancelled. Finally, BlizzCon 2022 was also forgotten; the company declared at the time that the event would return, but first it would be necessary to readjust its planning.

With all this said, however, There’s Still a Chance That BlizzCon 2023 Will Be Canceled at the Last Minutebut we would certainly like to see the event return, where we could have previews of the company’s most popular franchises, such as World of Warcrafta game that added new staff after the purchase of the Proletariat studio a few days ago.
