Crime, stars and starlets in “Blaues Blut”

The series “Blaues Blut” was produced in 1988 in a German-British cooperation. The first broadcast in Germany was on January 15, 1990. Before the actual broadcast began, a 90-minute pilot film entitled “Scandalous” was released. The series “Blaues Blut” was shown in the evening program of RTL and achieved high ratings of an average of eight million viewers. However, the production costs were enormous. It was shot on many international locations, which drained the budget.

What happens in the series “Blaues Blut”?

Henry von Altenberg (Albert Fortell) is at the center of the events. He is the son of a noble family and was born with the proverbial golden spoon in his mouth. The Altenberg family is slowly running out of money and the children have to look for a job. Since Count Henry von Altenberg has only tried his hand at being a womanizer in recent years, he is slowly running out of options. He has to work and decides to become a private detective. His ex-wife, the journalist Lisa Prentice (Ursula Karven), helps him cope with the task. Together with her ex-husband, she goes on a hunt for criminals. To ensure that their work is adequately rewarded, the preferred clientele of the often arguing couple is the high society of England.

Celebrities and nobility go hand in hand with “Blaues Blut”

Many international stars played in the series, such as Capucine, Jean Bouchaud and Friedrich von Thun. International star writer Brian Clemens was even hired for the script, and he accordingly contributed to the action and suspense of the series. But the typical intelligent British humor did not fall by the wayside. In the end, the costs got too high, so a producer got out. “Blaues Blut” is not just a crime series. As the name suggests, insights into the lives of the rich and beautiful are also given.
