Blankenberge paid 130,000 euros for Gert Late Night

Blankenberge has paid 130,000 euros to bring Gert Late Night to the seaside town. The city council announced this on Tuesday. Gert Verhulst and James Cooke will be making television from the marina for three weeks. The seaside resort previously entered into a partnership with the Vier channel for the pop-up café De Mol aan zee.

Gert Verhulst’s Evanna will soon moor in Blankenberge. The first episode will air on August 31. The last broadcast will be broadcast on 17 September.

Together with the pop-up café De Mol with accompanying virtual reality game, this is already a second collaboration with Vier in the short term. The city council of Blankenberge sees Gert Late Night as an extension of the summer and it is part of the city’s vision of organizing corona-proof activities.

“People can always walk past, but due to corona there is a ban on gathering together,” says Mayor Daphné Dumery. The cooperation agreement with Vier carries a cost of 130,000 euros, excluding VAT. “In return, Blankenberge will be featured in many marketing campaigns and episodes for three weeks, beautiful images of the city will be shown, both during the program and in the national promotional campaigns. Blankenberge will therefore receive the necessary press attention ”, says Dumery.

Gert Late Night will be on the air from Monday to Thursday, on Sunday there is a compilation episode. An exact date on which the Evanna will enter the Blankenberg marina is not yet clear. The weather and the tides play a major role in this. The boat will moor at the entrance to the flushing basin.
