Blackhawks cancel training session

(Chicago) The Chicago Blackhawks have announced that they have canceled their training session scheduled for Saturday “as a precautionary measure” due to potential exposure to the coronavirus, the team said on its official Twitter account.

The Hawks have indicated they will follow recommendations from the league and health authorities to ensure the health and safety of their players and staff.

The Blackhawks (2-4-3) bowed 2-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.

The Illinois roster is not the first to see its business affected by the coronavirus.

The Vegas Golden Knights’ game against the St. Louis Blues scheduled for Thursday night has been postponed.

The NHL has indicated that a Golden Knights player and a team coach have gone through the league’s COVID-19 testing protocol. That means there could be a positive diagnosis for the virus, direct exposure to it, or something else.

The Knights faced the Blues on Tuesday night, despite the absence of some of their coaching staff. General manager Kelly McCrimmon led his men with the help of the coaching staff at the Knights school club.

The Golden Knights were then the third NHL team to face a COVID-19 outbreak resulting in postponement this season, after the Dallas Stars and Carolina Hurricanes.
